In the UNAIDS global report on HIV/Aids at the end of 2004, the following data was published:

• 40 Million People are living with HIV worldwide; 25 Million of these are in Africa alone.
• 3 Million HIV related deaths world wide in 2004; 2.3 Million HIV related deaths in Africa alone in 2004.
• 5 Million new infections world wide in 2004; 3.1 Million new infections in Africa in 2004.

The extend of the disease is stretching economic, social and almost all other levels of resources to the absolute maximum. At the centre of the number one killer disease in the world stands the immune system; or rather a compromised immune system that cannot cope with the infectious demands thrown its way. In recent years the introduction of anti-retroviral drugs (ARV’s) have brought optimism and positive results in the fight against HIV/Aids but with powerful and affordable immune modulators like Imunoxx the progress could have been even more impressive. The CD-4 count is therefore a valuable indicator of the progression of HIV infection and the stage of the disease at a specific point in time.

In healthy, uninfected individuals the normal CD-4 count ranges between 700-1300 cells/mm³. When an individual becomes infected with HIV the CD-4 count will gradually decrease with time. When the CD-4 lymphocyte count goes below 200 cells/mm³, by convention it signals the onset of the final Aids stage of HIV disease. It implicates a malfunctioning immune system with a definite increased risk of opportunistic infections. It is usually at this stage that patients develop Tuberculosis, Candidiasis, Kaposi’s sarcoma, Cryptococcal meningitis, Toxoplasmosis and Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia.

Very few other products, if any, can bring safe and effective increase in CD-4 counts the way Imunoxx does it. It effectively delays the development of the dreaded Aids stadium of HIV infection, leading to improvement in quality and quantity of life for HIV positive individuals.
